Argentina's Transport Secretariat announced the payment of subsidies to bus companies this week, after owners reduced frequencies in Buenos Aires and threatened to strike. Payments are contingent on the restoration of normal service.

Argentina to Transfer Bus Subsidies After Threats of Strike

Buenos Aires, April 7 (NA) — The Secretariat of Transport will transfer the subsidies from the Nation to the bus companies this Wednesday, following the demands of the owners of these companies and the reduction in frequencies recorded in the AMBA area in recent hours.

“Tomorrow the subsidies from the Nation to the companies will be paid, on the fourth business day of the month. It depends on them (that they restore the usual services and lift the strike threats for this Wednesday). We are doing what we have to do,” spokespeople from the portfolio stated in statements to the Argentine News Agency (NA).
